Lakshya Sen is an Indian badminton player best known for becoming the youngest player to qualify for the All England Open badminton tournament in 2022.

India’s badminton star Lakshya Sen has performed brilliantly in the men’s singles final of the Commonwealth Games 2022. Lakshya Sen retaliated strongly after losing the first game and defeated Tze Yong of Malaysia 19-21, 21-9, 21-16 to win the gold medal.

Lakshya Sen first came into the news in 2016 when he had a successful junior badminton circuit. The following year, he became No. 1 in the BWF World Junior Rankings. 

Lakshya Sen achieved that feat in 2018 when he defeated the top-seeded world No. 1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the final to become champion at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships.

Lakshya Sen studied at Beersheba Senior Secondary School, Haldwani, Uttarakhand. Later, Lakshya Sen got admission to Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, Bengaluru.

Lakshya Sen is a right-handed shuttler who made his debut in the 2016 Badminton Asia Junior Championships held in Bangkok, Thailand. 

Lakshya Sen competed in the Junior World Championship and has also competed at the senior international level. In 2017, Lakshya Sen participated in the BWF World Junior and Vietnam Open. 

In 2018, Lakshya Sen became the champion at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships. Lakshya Sen participated in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics. In 2019, he won the Dutch Open. 

In November 2019, Lakshya Sen won the SaarLorLux Open. In 2020, he reached the second round of 2020 All England Open.

 In December 2021, Lakshya Sen reached the semi-finals of the World Championships. In 2022, he reached the All England Open.

Lakshya Sen regained his momentum to enter his maiden final at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games on Sunday, 07 August 2022. 

In the next match, world No. 10 Lakshya Sen lost a bit after a dominating start against 87-ranked Jia Heng Te of Singapore. However, Lakshya Sen won the men’s singles semi-final 21-10, 18-21, 21-16.

  • One of the media houses published a picture of Lakshya winning a tournament in Singapore in 2011.
  • When Lakshya was twelve years old, he gave an interview in which he said that he wanted to play in the Olympics when he matured.
